The Philippine Intellectual Property Office (“IPOPHL”) issued on 23 September 2021 Memorandum Circular No. 2021-022 (“MC No. 2021-022”) allowing registered owners of marks or their representatives to request for a digitally signed Certification of No Pending Case via email.
Pursuant to MC 2021-022, a request for Certification of No Pending Case shall be filed with the Bureau of Legal Affairs (“BLA”) through its email, [email protected]. The requesting party will receive email instructions from the BLA to pay the prescribed fees through the IPOPHL’s approved online facilities. Upon payment, the requesting party shall receive a digitally signed Certification of No Pending Case from the BLA, also via email.
As stated in MC 2021-022, the request for and issuance of a digitally signed Certification of No Pending Case are in furtherance of the full digitization and automation of the BLA’s processes.
