Professional Background

Mr. Valerio is the head of the firm’s IP Enforcement and Investigation practice group. He specializes in intellectual property rights enforcement and litigation. With more than 10 years of experience in IP practice, Mr. Valerio has handled intellectual property litigation and enforcement matters for local and foreign corporations in the Philippine IP Office, regular and appellate courts, and other administrative agencies, such as the Department of Trade and Industry and the Bureau of Customs. He has also led IP rights holders in enforcing their rights through non-traditional platforms such as via online mechanisms and through domain protection disputes.

Mr. Valerio has extensive experience in trademark, patent and copyright prosecution for local and foreign corporations and individuals. He is one of the lawyers responsible for the firm’s international patent (PCT and Paris Convention route) and trademark prosecution (Madrid and national route) practice. He also assists major Philippine corporations in securing their intellectual property rights overseas.

Aside from attending various local intellectual property-related seminars, Mr. Valerio also attended the 2018 JPO Intellectual Property Rights Training Course for IP Protection Lawyers in Tokyo, Japan. He is currently the Secretary-Elect of the Intellectual Property Alumni Association composed of intellectual property practitioners in the Philippines that have attended the same training program. He is also regularly invited to conduct lecture on intellectual property enforcement in the IPO, the DOST, and the University of the Philippines.

He is a Rising Star and Leading Associate for Intellectual Property (The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024 and 2025), a recommended individual for Patents (IAM Patent 1000 2023 and 2024) and Bronze (IAM Patent 2025), and a notable practitioner for Trademarks and Copyright according to Managing IP.
