6th Asian Mediation Association Conference

Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia (CMT) Senior Partner Elmar B. Galacio, CFE, FCIArb, and Partner Maria Theresa M. Domingo once again represented the firm and the Philippine legal industry as a whole at the 6th Asian Mediation Association Conference, held last October 15-16, 2024. The Conference was hosted by the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

Mr. Galacio heads CMT’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practice Group, and is an experienced mediator accredited by the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR), the Conflict Resolution Group Foundation, Inc. (CORE), and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB). He has also undergone mediation training from Harvard University, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.

Ms. Domingo is a Member of CMT’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group specializing in arbitration and mediation. She practices negotiation and mediation in her Family Law and Estate practice as well as in civil litigation. Ms. Domingo has undergone extensive training in alternative dispute resolution, focusing on arbitration and mediation from, among others, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb), Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc. (PDRCI), and Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution (PICCR).

The Conference featured representatives from the Philippines, China, Mongolia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, and hosted practitioners, representatives from academia, and advocates from across Asia and beyond, with a view toward harmonizing practices toward greater innovation in the mediation and alternative dispute resolution space. Over the course of eight (8) sessions, participants engaged in discourse over various aspects of mediation and ADR and how to develop the space in an integrated and modern manner.
