Our Practice

Led by recognized pioneers in the field, the firm’s Trade Department assists various industries and businesses in navigating Philippine trade and market access issues. Our lawyers, Susan Villanueva and Miguel Silos, were the first in the country to initiate and prosecute an application for safeguard measures. They also advised the petrochemical industry on ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) matters. Our team also successfully represented the Chinese steel industry in preventing the imposition of trade remedies against the importation of steel into the country.

The firm represents a wide range of local and foreign clients — including those in the vital cement, iron and steel industries — on trade remedy cases and trade advisory matters. We assist and advise our clients on the most effective trade remedies to address injurious imports, including applying for provisional measures before government trade agencies or courts of law. We also represent clients before the administrative and judicial offices tasked to enforce Philippine trade laws, including, but not limited to, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Tariff Commission, the Court of Tax Appeals, and the Bureau of Customs.
