Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia Shares 7 Key IP Strategies in the Philippines

Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia’s Senior Partner and head of its Intellectual Property Department Susan D. Villanueva, Senior Partner Patricia A. O. Bunye, and Associate Andrea Y. Alegre share 7 key IP strategies in the Philippines in the latest issue of Asia IP.

The article discusses some practical considerations and strategies that would be valuable to any company with intellectual property (“IP”) rights in the Philippines, including the conduct of IP audits, registration and enforcement of IP rights, and commercialization. They advise, among others, that “IP strategy should not only be aligned with an organization’s business mission and vision. There must be top-to-bottom awareness of the value of IP as a growth driver such that its protection and promotion become the business paradigm and part of the organization’s DNA and culture.”

Asia IP named Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia as Philippines Copyright Firm of the Year in the 2020 Asia IP Awards, the 6th time it received this distinction, having been recognized for the same award from 2014-2018. Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia has also been consistently shortlisted by Asia IP for the Philippines Trademarks Firm of the Year and Philippines Patents Firm of the Year awards.
