CMT Sponsors 2024 PIArb-ICCA Philippine Roadshow

Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia (CMT) will host the Seminar-Workshop on the New York Convention and Investment State Arbitration on 03 May 2024 organized by the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb) and the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).

 

PIArb is the first learned society in the Philippines dedicated to promoting private dispute resolution within the country and pursuing initiatives to enable the country to serve as a viable and practical venue for private dispute resolution.  

  

ICCA is a worldwide non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to promoting the use and improving the processes of arbitration, conciliation, and other forms of dispute resolution. Its activities include convening congresses and conferences, sponsoring authoritative dispute resolution publications, and promoting the harmonization of arbitration and conciliation rules, laws, procedures and standards. 

 

Invitees are members of Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, Inc. (PIArb) and arbitration practitioners in the country. 

  

CMT Senior Partner Elmar B. Galacio, FCIArb, CFE, FPIArb, Trustee of the Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution (PICCR), and Arbitrator at Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR), Philippine Dispute Resolution Center (PDRC), and Construction Industry Arbitration Commission (CIAC), will moderate the panel discussion on Investor-State Arbitration. CMT Partner Carla S. Pingul, Vice President for Events of PIArb, will share her expertise on the New York Convention as a panelist.   

 

Mr. Galacio heads CMT’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Arbitration Practice Group. He is also an accredited arbitrator at Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), and member of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Institute of World Business Law, International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF).  

 

Meanwhile, Ms. Pingul has represented clients before the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Chamber of Commerce for disputes involving government infrastructure projects and energy contracts, as well as various arbitration institutions. She is a member of CIArb, and a trained arbitrator of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc.  

 

The event is one in a series leading up to the 26th ICCA Congress on 08 May 2024 in Hong Kong.
