Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia attends Regional Arbitration Institutes Forum (RAIF) 2024

Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia (CMT) Partner Jacques S. Lynn, MCIArb represented the Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb) at the 2024 Regional Arbitral Institutes Forum (RAIF) held last 08 November 2024 in Sydney, Australia.

 

Established in 2007, RAIF brings together national arbitral institutes in the Asia-Pacific region with the common thread of promoting the resolution of disputes by way of arbitration. It is currently composed of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, the Resolution Institute – Australia and New Zealand, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, the Japan Institute for International Arbitration Research and Training, the Indonesian Arbitrators Institute, the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators, the Thailand Arbitration Center, and the Arbitration Association of Brunei Darussalam.

 

Ms. Lynn is a member of CMT’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practice Group and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and serves as PIArb’s Vice-President for Chapters.  She is an experienced arbitration counsel, as well as an arbitrator accredited with the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution, an arbitrator at the Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution, and a trained arbitrator of Philippine Dispute Resolution Center.

 

Prior to the RAIF, Ms. Lynn also attended on 6 November 2024 the specialist pre-conference workshop on International Arbitration with Lucy Martinez, The Hon Michael McHugh AC KC and Prof Chester Brown, and on 07 November 2024 the Resolution Institute’s conference on determinative dispute resolution, which included insightful discussions on maintaining control and flexibility in complex dispute resolution; the use of tribunal secretaries in commercial arbitration; expert determination, and the launch of the Resolution Institute’s Arbitration Toolbox.
