Jerome D. Canlas, a Senior Associate of Cruz Marcelo and Tenefrancia, participated as panelist on the topic “Algorithms and Creativity” at the Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Algorithms Regulation, Governance, and Markets Conference last 21-23 November 2019 in Fukuoka, Japan.

Mr. Canlas talked about the attribution of copyright for creative works made by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and proposed a framework on how copyright for AI-generated creative works should be allocated.

Mr. Canlas is a member of the firm’s telecommunications and ICT, litigation and dispute resolution, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, taxation, and labor and employment departments.  He recently received his Master of Laws from the Kyushu University in Japan as a Monbukagakusho scholar (Young Leaders’ Program), focusing on Technology Law and International Commercial Transactions.
